You know when you have made it over the frugal deep edge, when your mother comes to visit and keeps trying to talk you into buying you things:
Is that what you use for napkins? Would you like me to buy you paper towels?
Is that what you use for kitty litter? I can buy you kitty litter.
Do you have any soft scrub? No? Use Baking Soda? Here's $10; buy me some soft scrub.
:)
I totally understand. My family use to do the same thing to me sometimes. Eventually they get use to your frugal ways, roll their eyes, and go on. lol.
ReplyDeleteOhh...I completely hear you.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate to you on that one!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL mine has been doing that for ages! I keep telling her. I can afford XYZ, I just don't want it.
ReplyDeleteHaha. That sounds about right. It's a good thing I don't get many houseguests.
ReplyDeleteLOL, yes, I can relate. :)
ReplyDeleteSo what DO you use for cat litter? I love your blog and have used several of your ideas! Signed- Evan's Grammie Chris
ReplyDeleteROFL! My family still can't grasp the concept of cloth toilet paper either. They try not to use the bathroom at my house. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh yes! What I hear a lot of is: the dollar store is JUST a dollar! Ha, but dollars DO add up!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to you too. My family thinks we are super cheep but the fact is our priorities are just different. My parents would rather spend x amount of money yearly on cotton like toilet paper when I prefer using actual cotton and saving the funds for a Zoo membership.
ReplyDeleteChris,
ReplyDeletestill experimenting on the kitty litter. (I actually don't blame Mom for turning her nose up at this one, I had just put it in that morning to see how it went and it was tracking all over, yuck). I had to explain to her that I was experimenting when she insisted she could get me kitty litter. I knew it was going badly, but I wanted to find the cheapest best solution, if I couldn't find anything good, I assured her I would go back to actual kitty litter. :)
As soon as I have tried every one of the things I can think of/heard other frugal people online use, I will post it.
For me, it's my sister. She helped me out by cleaning my bathroom toward the end of my last pregnancy. I had been using distilled vinegar- which works wonders on soap scum. At one point, she came out of the bathroom and said- "Okay, do you have any real cleaners??" Sigh.
ReplyDeleteShe thinks I'm crazy, but I worry about her when she doesn't have money at the end of the month.
